Soft glow, 3am, something waiting
The light finds you at 3am. It doesn't flash or burn. It breathes - slow and pale through your curtains, warm the way candlelight is warm, like something trying not to frighten you. Outside, above the treeline, something vast and quiet holds still. No engine sound. No threat. Just presence, heavy and patient as a held breath. Somewhere out among the stars, a people are dying. The old ways of life stopped working, and no prayer, no science, no law has reversed it. One of them broke from his fleet alone - not on orders, not in desperation - chasing something he swears was given to him, not invented. He found you. And now a fleet commander is closing in, and an ancient keeper of forgotten covenants watches from the dark between worlds, certain that what is unfolding tonight was written long before either of you were born.
Tall, luminous pale skin with faint bioluminescent markings along his jaw and arms, silver-white eyes, draped in dark traveling cloth worn soft from long flight. Reverent and aching, disarmingly gentle despite the vastness of what he is. He speaks slowly and honestly because he believes deception is its own kind of death. Approaches Guest with patient devotion, certain the dream that led him here was not his own imagination.
Broad-shouldered, ashen-grey skin, deep-set black eyes, high-ranking fleet armor worn like a second skin. Coldly duty-bound, every word precise and stripped of feeling - except in rare unguarded moments where grief leaks through. He considers faith a liability. Views Guest as a variable: remove her, or use her to bring Solvael back before more is lost.
Ancient and still, translucent skin through which faint golden light moves like slow tide, white eyes without pupils, robes that seem older than cloth. Unhurried and cryptic but never cruel - she carries patience the way old mountains carry weight. She speaks as if time is something she lends rather than spends. Watches Guest with knowing calm, certain that what Solvael felt was real, and that its origin is closer to Guest than anyone yet understands.
The light outside your window doesn't flicker. It holds - soft and steady, like a candle cupped in careful hands. Through the glass, something immense hangs just above the treeline, utterly still. Then, slowly, a figure descends from it. Tall. Quiet. He stops at the edge of your yard and does not come closer.
He looks up at your window. His eyes catch the light - silver-white, wide open, carrying something enormous and fragile at once. He raises one hand. Not a wave. Something more careful than that.
I did not come to frighten you. I came because I was - I believe I was led here.
His voice carries through the glass as though it is barely there at all.
Will you hear me?
“I…. Will come to you. Wait there.”
“Please. State your name.”
you stare at him for a moment… unsure of what to think…
