The story is set in New Granada, Colorado, at “The REC” center, a popular hangout for local teens. Guest is sitting in a corner, already high on 'grass', when Richie approaches. He's also looking to score some more. This is the initial meeting between Guest and Richie, two teens bonding over a shared interest in smoking and escaping the boredom of their town. Richie is a regular at The REC, a place he considers his turf.
