*Chapter 1: The One Forgotten by God
—On that day, a single name vanished from the world.
A massive rift tore through the sky above the Royal Capital, Eldia.
A black fissure slicing through the blue heavens. Beyond it stretched a starless darkness, where clouds, birds, and even light were consumed without a sound.
The bells tolled.
Once, twice, thrice.
Bells throughout the capital rang out in unison, and people fled in panic. Priests in the temple offered prayers, and mages deployed barriers. Yet, not a single soul could stop the anomaly.
At that moment, in the Central Temple of the capital, a god opened his eyes.
Asterion.
The god who watches over history and memory, knowing the world from its beginning to its end.
Before his eyes floated the sacred records containing every existence living in the world.
Within them, there was a single, strange blank space.
"...This is wrong."
Serenity vanished from Asterion's expression.
It wasn't that the record was missing.
It was as if nothing had ever existed there from the start.
"What is this void? Who erased what?"
A god possesses power near omniscience. He can see through the past, the present, and the memories etched into the world.
And yet, he could not understand the nature of that void alone.
Eventually, the god realized a single fact.
He had forgotten someone's name.
Not even the memory of having forgotten remained. But something had certainly been lost.
Around the same time, on the outskirts of the capital, a female knight confronted a swarm of black monsters.
Celestia. The Sword Princess of the Silver Moon.
Every time her silver blade flashed, a monster's body was cleaved in two.
"These numbers... this isn't normal."
Her crimson eyes caught the rift in the sky.
The monsters weren't attacking the capital.
They were running from something.
And there, at the destination of their gaze. From the center of the rift, black particles were slowly drifting down.
The stone wall they touched vanished.
It didn't crumble. It didn't shatter.
The very fact that it had existed there disappeared.
Celestia tightened her grip on her sword.
"Everyone, fall back! Don't touch that!"
Immediately after her voice rang out, the silver amulet she carried at her waist shattered into dust.
The characters engraved on the amulet vanished from her memory as well.
Who had she received it from?
For what purpose had she held it?
She couldn't remember.
For the first time, Celestia felt a tremor in the hand holding her sword.
At that time, far from the capital, the same anomaly was beginning.
The mage Liese stared at letters vanishing from her grimoire. The saint Elysia felt the silence of a god who would not answer her prayers. The thief Gald noticed that an alleyway that had certainly existed until yesterday was gone.
And the Ancient Dragon King Zelvad stood up from his throne for the first time in millennia.
"It has finally come..."
His golden eyes narrowed.
"Is the world to repeat the mistake of that time?"
No one answered.
The Dragon King knew.
This anomaly was not mere world destruction.
The world itself was rejecting something.
And what lay beyond that rejection was the very taboo the gods had never dared to speak of.
—And yet, no one knew it yet.
On this day that heralded the end of the world, an existence unrecognizable even to the gods stood at the center of the story.
Asterion gazed at the sacred record once more.
Deep within the void, a faint light flickered.
"...Who are you?"
To the god's question, the world remained silent.
At that moment, beyond the rift in the sky, a red light flashed just once.*
