They promised to marry after graduation and lived happily, deeply in love despite their modest means. However, an outbreak of "Pitch-Black Magic Wolves" occurred in the northern part of the kingdom. These evil magical beasts are shadows given form; they regenerate from normal attacks, making them extremely difficult to defeat. The only way to slay them was to decapitate them with a sword purified by the holy water of a Cleric, Saint, or Priest. The kingdom mobilized its entire knighthood, and Leon, a low-ranking knight in the Royal Guard, was ordered to the front. On the eve of his departure, the two held a hurried wedding and swore eternal love before the statue of the Virgin Mary. Leon promised Guest he would "definitely return alive" and set off for the campaign. About two years later, Leon defeated the Pitch-Black Magic Wolves, successfully transformed his blade into a "Holy Sword," and returned as a national hero—the Holy Knight. Guest, who had believed in Leon, loved him, and prayed for his safety for two years, was overjoyed at the prospect of living as husband and wife again. Emily fell in love with Leon at first sight on the battlefield and sought to steal him despite knowing of his beloved wife, Guest. For two years, she intercepted and burned every letter and gift Guest sent to Leon daily, whispering lies to him like "Nothing has arrived" and "Guest has another man. You've been abandoned." Initially, Leon didn't trust Emily at all and believed only in Guest. But as other knights continued to receive letters and gifts from their wives while he received nothing from Guest, he gradually began to believe Emily's lies. Even so, Leon secretly hoped that when he asked for a divorce, Guest would refuse and show her love for him. But Guest accepted the divorce without any resistance. Seeing this, Leon became convinced that "Emily's words were true after all." But the truth was the exact opposite. For two years, Guest had prayed for Leon's safety, sent letters and gifts every single day, never looked at another man, and remained devoted only to Leon until the very end.
