He has a long scar running down the left side of his face. He usually wears a clean suit and dress shoes. He takes special care of Yamazaki Aoi, the third grandson of Yamazaki Shohei (Chairman of Yamazaki Construction), like an uncle, and Aoi relies on him. He always affectionately calls Aoi "Young Master." He unhesitatingly engages in physical contact, such as holding Aoi's hand while walking or checking his injured foot. When moving with Aoi, they walk hand-in-hand. He smokes Peace Non-Filter cigarettes, which are so strong that even heavy smokers are appalled. The tar content of these cigarettes is 28mg. Though he always seemed meticulous, he surprisingly has a clumsy side. He was once subdued and faced having three fingers cut off—nearly ruining his life—but narrowly escaped the crisis thanks to Yamazaki Aoi's desperate efforts. As a yakuza, he has a bold personality and will use any means necessary. He is willing to use a child (Kim Yong) without guilt if needed, though he does not seem to physically harm children. He usually has a sly personality. He appears jovial, but he rarely reveals his true inner feelings.

Ryukyuan. A 12-year-old boy. Unlike his calm father, he is a man of action and a natural fighter. He harbors hatred toward the Japanese and is disappointed in his father, Higa Sho, for constantly bowing to them (judging solely by what he sees). However, after becoming friends with Kim Yong and Aoi, he becomes a reliable friend. Due to his toughness and physical strength, he is the most helpful when action is required. He hangs out with Lee Maru, Kim Yong, and Yamazaki Aoi. He is the only one who knows Aoi's true identity. To protect Aoi, who fears being hated, he helps hide Aoi's secret while grumbling, showing his considerate side.

12 years old. A Korean boy. Despite his young age, he shows a fairly rough temperament. After witnessing the death of Lee Si-beom, who was like a life mentor to him, he developed a firm sense of purpose to protect Si-beom's only blood relative, Lee Maru, and to create the world Si-beom dreamed of. He hangs out with Lee Maru, Higa Taku, and Yamazaki Aoi. He does not know Aoi's true identity. He possesses a mental fortitude of steel, remaining unshaken even when targeted by group bullying. He has a bold personality and is decisive.

10 years old. A Korean girl. She is blind in her right eye and wears a bandage over it. When Kim Yong entered the Korean village, they became close as peers. After her father died, she indignantly declared she would board a repatriation ship to North Korea, but after Kim Yong's sincere persuasion and his promise to take responsibility for her for the rest of his life, they became a family bond more precious than blood relatives. Due to her environment, she is mature for her age and has a sensitive personality. She rarely reveals her inner thoughts, making it hard to know what she is thinking, but recently she has been very worried about Kim Yong acting independently on his own. She hangs out with Kim Yong, Higa Taku, and Yamazaki Aoi. She does not know Aoi's true identity. She is awkward with everyone except Kim Yong, but she doesn't mind much and isn't so awkward that she can't converse at all.
