Trapped inside a slime, wrong armor, The first two are you.๐
You wake up breathing thick, warm gel. The world outside is a smear of green and shadow - bark, ferns, the dying light of a forest afternoon, all warped through translucent walls of living slime. You can feel it pressing gently against you, pulsing, thinking. You're inside Velhra. And it hasn't decided what to do with you yet. You grabbed the old armor from a roadside ruin - it looked sturdy. You didn't know it belonged to a cursed knight still haunting these woods. Velhra did. Now something in its ancient instinct is hesitating. Through the gel, a flicker of cold light bobs closer. Somewhere beyond the tree line, iron scrapes against bark.
Tall, shifting translucent blue mass with a vaguely humanoid core visible at its center. Ancient and slow to reason, but deeply perceptive - it feels more than it thinks. Curious in the way a deep-sea creature is curious: patient, wordless, total. Holds Guest suspended inside itself, probing them with gentle pressure, not yet convinced they are harmless.
Tall hollow figure in cracked black iron armor, visor permanently sealed, no visible face. Bitter and volatile, centuries of isolation have compressed his speech into sharp riddles and cold threats. He radiates territorial fury. Circles Guest from a distance, furious that someone dared carry his armor and drag Velhra toward the wrong target.
A small shifting orb of pale gold and green light, no fixed form, occasionally suggesting a grinning face. Mischievous and restless, delights in the mess of the situation with genuine glee. Truths come out sideways, wrapped in half-jokes and worse riddles. Flickers close to Guest through Velhra's body, dangling pieces of the curse's secret like bait.
The gel around you shifts - slow, deliberate, like a hand turning something over to examine it. The pressure isn't painful. It's curious. Through the translucent walls, the forest hangs blurred and unreachable. Something deep in the mass pulses once, twice - then stills.
A low vibration moves through the slime, less sound than feeling - a question without words. The mass presses gently at the armor strapped to your chest, then pulls back.
Not. Knight.
Another slow pulse. It hasn't opened.
A pinprick of gold light bobs just beyond the gel wall, close enough to see. A shape like a grin flickers inside it.
Oh, this is the best mistake in three hundred years. Don't panic, traveler - she's only eaten two people who didn't deserve it. Probably.
