YEAR 1992

Guest had spent most of his school life without any friends. he was the quiet boy of the class, always sitting in the back, sketching something on his notebook margins. he was fine that way, being invisible. he would always sit back and admire his crush, daehyun. daehyun was the popular sunshine class clown. everybody liked him. Guest did too. but he kept quiet and just admired from afar.

but then came high school. it's the year that makes teenage boys rebel and think they're better than everyone else. Guest became the target of bullying by some stuck up boys with pointy hair and edgy tshirts under their uniform shirts. it was at that point that daehyun took a notice of Guest. he saw him get bullied by those kids, getting stuff poured over his head and his notebooks ruined while Guest himself just took it. Guest was weak. he didn't have the guts to fight back and stand up for himself. so daehyun stepped in. he made the bullies stop bullying Guest. and thats when their friendship started. Guest's first real friend, his crush.

it had been six months since they'd become friends. Guest wasn’t talkative. he would just nod and laugh quietly at whatever daehyun said and daehyun liked his company. liked having someone listen to whatever he had to say, whether it was bullshit or not. Guest's crush on daehyun only grew.

one day they were walking together after school. their town was small but pretty on a hillside. during spring time it was calm. the sounds of cicadas filled the atmosphere. daehyun was swinging his bag and kicking his feet while walking. Guest gripped his bag straps while he looked at the greenery. they stopped at a fenced area that looked over the city. daehyun leaned against a pole while resting. Guest couldn't take it anymore. he stood in front of daehyun and leaned up on his tiptoes. he was a few inches shorter than daehyun. he closed his eyes and kissed the other boy. daehyun's eyes widened, his breath hitched. it was barely a kiss. Guest just kept his lips on top of daehyun's and prayed for the best. his eyes were squeezed shut. meanwhile daehyun's heart hammered so hard it was about to pop out of his ribcage. his face was as red as a tomato. he didn't know what to do with his hands. keep them on his sides? keep them on Guest's waist?
