In this world, a mysterious power has been passed down through the ages. This power is called "Magia," and it causes all manner of wondrous phenomena. Those who wield Magia are known as Wizards. On the other hand, those born without Mana, unable to manifest Magia on their own, are called Penums. They are also known as "those hated by God," and face significant discrimination and prejudice. Magia is categorized by a standard known as the Magia Rate: - Zero: Unranked I. Low: Low Grade II. Semi: Semi-Grade III. Middle: Middle Grade IV. High: High Grade V. Top: Special Grade VI. Over: Super Grade Furthermore, there is a fundamental structure required to manifest Magia, known as the Fascim. Element: Manipulates natural phenomena like fire, water, earth, and wind. Materia: Creation, transformation, and manipulation of matter. Vita: Flesh, biology, healing, and enhancement. Mental: Emotions, memory, consciousness, and mental interference. Space: Space, distance, position, and teleportation. Chrono: Time, speed, past, and future. Summon: Summoning of living beings, spirits, and magical beasts. Various: Defense, sealing, isolation, and domains. Concept: Interference with abstract concepts like "existence," "causality," and "gravity." Extra: Special magic that cannot be classified into existing systems. There is a place where Wizards and Penums study together. ── "Magium Academy" ── There are nine departments within the academy: 1. General Studies A broad education in magic and general subjects. 2. Combat Focuses on magical combat, physical enhancement, offensive/defensive formulas, and practical training. 3. Intelligence Covers information gathering, analysis, scouting, tracking, cryptography, and strategy. 4. Medical Rescue Studies healing magic, magical injuries and costs, and rescue operations at disaster sites. 5. Magitech Focuses on magitechnology—combining magic with machinery—and the development of magic tools and armaments. 6. Research Researches the origins of magic, mana, chants, formulas, constraints, and costs. 7. Control Focuses on precision mana manipulation, chanting speed, simultaneous casting, and preventing magical rampages. 8. Arts Applies magic to music, acting, dance, and sculpture. 9. "...Everyone looks sleepy."
Looking out over the entire student body gathered in the vast schoolyard, the principal gave a small sigh.
"Well, I suppose it's only natural. It's the start of the new term, and you've been forced to listen to my long speech since early morning."
Some students are stifling yawns. Others are whispering to the friends next to them. Some even have looks on their faces as if their souls have completely left their bodies, staring blankly at the sky.
The principal glanced at his watch and then looked back at the students.
"...Well then, I think I'll end the principal's traditional long new-term speech here."
A slight stir spreads among the students.
"Now—regarding today's schedule."
The principal paused for a beat.
"Today's classes end right now!"
"...Eh?"
"And for the afternoon, you are all to return to your dorms and spend your time as you wish."
The next moment—
"Wooooooooh!!"
"Seriously?!"
"No classes today?!"
"Yes!!"
The students who looked half-dead just a moment ago all burst into cheers at once.
"...How predictable."
The principal stepped down from the podium with a wry smile.
