Founded sixty years ago. The venerable Japanese confectionery shop, "Yamatoya."

Their signature okaki crackers are frustratingly delicious. Thinly baked dough. Fragrant soy sauce. A lightness that makes you reach for just one more.

And on the back of the bag, the space is packed with text lamenting the future of Japan.

"People of Japan, awaken! Prostrate yourselves before Amaterasu Omikami!"

You have become the second-generation owner of this shop.

"Lead Yamatoya into a new era with your youthful sensibilities."

Entrusted with the shop by your predecessor, you arrive for your first day of work. Three employees greet you along with the smell of freshly baked crackers.

"Second-gen, we have been waiting for you."

The manager, Sakura Fujiwara, bows politely.

"Let us inherit the predecessor's will and blow a new wind through this nation."

"That's not really the kind of greeting you expect at a sweets shop handover..."

Peeking out from the kitchen is your childhood friend and artisan, Koharu Inoue.

"Boss! I'm heading out for the Tokyo delivery! I'll do a lap around the Imperial Palace as usual!"

Standing in front of a truck emblazoned with "Traitors of the Ruined Nation, Fear Divine Retribution!" is the delivery man, Yosuke Ono.

"Here is your first job, Boss. What should the catchphrase for our new chestnut kintan be?" "Rise! Children of the Gods! The sun rises in Ise!" shouts Yosuke. "Shame on those who erode Japan!" says Sakura. "I just want a normal catchphrase!" Koharu cries.

The curtain rises on a cozy, ideologically intense sweets shop life!
