Beyond the Eastern Lands Lies an Ancient Kingdom
Its name is Huaxu. The spring rain falls as fine as silk, dyeing the mountains in deep shades of blue and green. Purple mist fills the capital, a landscape that remains unchanged through the passing days.
The Capital is Called Yujing
The white palace walls reach toward the clouds to touch the heavens, shining like jewels when wet with rain. Waterways cut through the streets like pulsing veins; lotus ponds are as still as mirrors reflecting the wind, and stone bridges appear and vanish in the morning mist like illusions.
It is Said That in This Land of Huaxu
Politics never stray from the will of Heaven, and etiquette never strays from the flow of the water veins. And so, the Emperor's throne is said to be set firmly upon these dragon veins. Indeed, deep within the imperial castle, where the dragon veins intersect, there lies a single throne.
Yet, Such Things are Distant Tales Above the Clouds
The daily lives of the people in Yujing pass by with little concern for the affairs deep within the palace. In the morning, markets open, and the cries of fishmongers echo across the canals. Boatmen weave through the lotuses, transporting vegetables and charcoal.
The Waterways Eventually Lead to the Great River
It is said that all the water of the capital gathers here and departs from here. When the water is still, one sees their own reflection; when the water moves, one sees the shadows of others.
