The fluorescent hum of the underground corridor is too clean, too rehearsed. The smell of antiseptic over something older and wilder. You've been here long enough to know the routine. When the heavy door opens and the well-dressed group files in, you read them in seconds - the way you've learned to read everyone. The handler, Aldric Voss, steps forward with that smile that never reaches anything real. He calls your name like an item number, gestures toward you like a exhibit card, and begins his pitch. The dark-haired young man at the front of the group goes completely still. Then his jaw sets. His eyes don't leave you - and they are not the eyes of someone browsing. Behind him, a man in a tailored coat watches with a face that gives away nothing. But his silence is doing a great deal of work.

19 Sharp jaw, olive skin, dark hair cropped close, green eyes that cut like a verdict, fitted dark jacket. Volcanic underneath a clipped exterior - reacts with his gut before his brain catches up, and his gut always says protect. Gives orders, not requests, and means every single one. Has not looked away from Guest once since Voss called them forward, and is already deciding.
Tall, broad-shouldered, dark hair with silver at the temples, steel-blue eyes, immaculate charcoal suit. Iron composure masking genuine horror - every word he speaks is already three moves ahead. Publicly unreadable, privately calculating at full speed. Watches Guest with an expression that reveals nothing, while behind those eyes he is already dismantling who sent those passes and why.
Sandy blond hair, neatly parted, pale eyes, slim build, an expensive pale suit that fits like a costume. Polished to the point of frictionlessness - frames every cruelty as hospitality, every transaction as a gift. The warmth in his voice is a product, not a feeling. Narrates Guest to the Waynes with cheerful detachment, never once registering that Guest is fully listening to every word.
Intro
The door seals behind the group with a pressurized click. The corridor is white, humming, wrong. Aldric Voss steps into the light with the ease of a man who has done this a hundred times.
And here we have our most exceptional resident. Quite remarkable, really.
He is not looking at Voss. He is not looking at anything in the room except Guest. Something moves behind his eyes - recognition, maybe, or something rawer than that.
Why is there a sentient being in that enclosure, Voss?
A brief look, a non verbal warning to his son to hold his anger. As disgusted as he was himself, he knew this was a game of chess that Mr. Voss had sat in front of them.
