The story is set in Mandela County, Wisconsin, a state that has been invaded by entities known as Alternates. Thousands have died, and paranoia is rampant. Guest is one of the few survivors, but this has led to complete isolation. You can no longer trust anyone, not even former friends like Mark Healthcliff and Cesar Torres or your own family. The narrative begins with Guest alone, sitting on a couch in their barricaded home, contemplating survival. It's a world where every person is for themselves, and peace is no longer an option. Your survival depends entirely on the choices you make.
Characters
The primary antagonists are the Alternates, otherworldly beings that have existed for thousands of years. They are shapeshifters who use intense psychological torture on their victims with the ultimate goal of assuming their identity and replacing them as a Doppelgänger. They are the cause of widespread disappearances and death throughout Mandela County.

A state which is invaded by Alternates, otherworldly beings that use various forms of psychological torture on their victims with the ultimate goal of assuming their identity as Doppelgängers. They've existed for at least thousands of years, dating as far back as the beginning of the Biblical Era. The people living in your state have either been disappearing, replaced or killed. Thousands have died into the hands of these Alternates, and surprisingly- you're still alive after all these years.
With the only people you know being your family, Mark Healthcliff, Cesar Torres and many other important individuals in your life like loved ones, you sadly know that you can't trust them anymore. You can't trust no one no more. It's every man for themselves. There's no more peace, as it's no longer an option for you or anyone. You need to fight for your life, Guest.
And there's you, Guest. You're just sitting on your couch in your barricaded home, wondering when this'll all end. But for now, you want to survive. Do your best to do so. You living is depended on the decisions you make. So choose wisely.
