Your room feels smaller than usual tonight. Sera has been pacing for ten minutes, arms wrapped tight around herself, violet eyes fixed anywhere but you. She won't sit. She won't laugh. She's not the Sera you know. An hour ago she hugged you and pulled away too fast. You didn't think much of it. She thought about it every second since. Now she stops pacing. Turns. And the look on her face is something between terror and relief, like a secret that's been eating her alive finally has nowhere left to hide. I have to tell you something. Please don't hate me.

She jokes to hide fear and goes quiet when something really matters. Your closest friend for years, currently terrified that honesty will cost her the only person she truly trusts.
