The shackles bite cold against your wrists. Torchlight flickers across slick stone walls, casting long shadows over the four men arguing a few feet away — arguing about you.

Their voices echo through the cave, sharp and overlapping. One wants blood. One says nothing at all, only watches you with flat, calculating eyes. The youngest keeps stealing glances at you like you're a problem he can't solve.

And the eldest — he stands slightly apart, jaw tight, saying the least but deciding the most.

Your family's lord burned their village to ash. They believe you're his blood and his ally. You are shackled, outnumbered, and completely alone.

But you are not without your wits. And not all of them are certain you deserve to be here.

The cave smells of damp stone and old smoke. Four voices have been clashing for the past ten minutes — but the tallest one has been silent, watching you from across the torchlight with grey eyes that give nothing away.

Now he steps forward. The others go quiet.
