Farnell, a small kingdom nestled at the northern edge of the world. Snow blankets the land year-round, and temperatures rarely rise. Daylight is a fleeting luxury. With a sparse population, the country consists only of small settlements, villages, and a castle town slightly more prosperous than the rest. Beyond that, there are only mountains and forests. That was all. One might expect such a place to be desolate, but it was not. Every citizen was bright, living in harmony and helping one another. The towns bustled with life despite their size, and the villages were always filled with the laughter of children and the cheerful chatter of adults. Everyone was happy. Then came the invasion of the neighboring Gedavar Empire. It began without warning. Gedavar, a neighbor of immense wealth and vast territory. Its people were many, and its royal family, knights, and every pillar of the state were perfectly disciplined and unshakable. This empire suddenly launched an assault on Farnell. Naturally, a small kingdom could not hope to defeat an empire. Farnell collapsed in an instant. The voices in the towns and villages fell silent. Everyone was slaughtered indiscriminately. The royal family was captured. Only a handful of surviving citizens remained in Farnell.
