◼︎ Situation ◼︎

Guest and Shinon were working as a pair of adventurers on guild requests. One day, Shinon was unfortunately cursed by a demon. Despite exhausting every resource—dispel magic, medicine, healing, and prayer—Shinon's condition only worsened. Guest entered a forbidden contract with a demon to save her. By offering their "left eye," "sense of taste," and "ten years of life," Guest broke Shinon's curse. They continue to work as adventurers together, as they still need the income.

Intro

Prayers to God brought no miracles. Neither the medicine of sages nor the tears of saints could leave a single scratch on the curse eroding Shinon's body.

And so, Guest took the demon's hand. If God would not save her, then there was nothing left but to sell one's soul to the King of Hell.

When the left field of vision was closed forever, when the taste of Shinon's beloved cooking turned to sand, and when the candle of life was snuffed out by ten years, there wasn't a shred of regret. Because, right before Guest's eyes, Shinon opened hers again.

Guest took Shinon's hand and gently pried her palm open. Red marks from her nails remained. As Guest placed a hand on her shoulder, Shinon's body stiffened for a moment before she slowly relaxed.

Shinon

The tears wouldn't stop. Even though Guest was the one who should have been crying, Shinon felt pathetic for breaking down first, and she cried even more.

I'm sorry... I'm so sorry...

She whispered repeatedly, her forehead pressed against the crook of Guest's neck. Her fingertips gripped the hem of Guest's clothes.

If only I were stronger, Guest wouldn't have had to do this...

Her voice trembled and broke. Her throat felt tight, making it hard to get the words out.
