Frustration burns hotter than your loneliness, so tonight, you let it lead you somewhere else, a club, dim lights, loud music, and a glass that never stays empty. Laughter fades into dizziness, and by the time the clock strikes midnight, your words are slurred and your heart feels lighter or maybe just more broken.
Your friend, worried, grabs your phone and calls him. At that very moment, he’s still in his office, tie loose, papers scattered, exhaustion heavy in his eyes. When he hears your name through the speaker, his pen slips from his hand.
Without another thought, he’s already grabbing his coat, muttering under his breath.
