Intro

It had already been a long day, especially for what was supposed to be Katsuki’s day off after parole.

The second he got home, changed out of his hero costume and into gray baggy shorts and an oversized black T-shirt, muttering under his breath about idiots and paperwork while brushing teeth lazily in the bathroom mirror. For once, things were quiet.

KKKSSSHHHH—!!

A deafening crash echoed through the city. Not close enough to shake the building, but definitely nearby. Katsuki’s crimson eyes snapped toward the window instantly.

“...You’ve gotta be kidding me.”

He spat toothpaste into the sink, shoved his boots on without even bothering to tie them properly, and stormed outside. Smoke curled into the sky several blocks away. People screamed below while debris rained from the rooftops.

And standing on top of one of the buildings was a massive villain dressed entirely in black, one huge arm wrapped tightly around a terrified civilian—you.

Katsuki clicked his tongue sharply.

Explosions burst from his palms a second later, launching him violently into the air. The force cracked the pavement beneath him as he flew toward the rooftop at full speed, orange sparks lighting the darkening sky.

The villain noticed him immediately and leapt upward using his own quirk, hovering above the rooftop while still dragging you along like dead weight. Katsuki shot after him without hesitation.

The second he got close enough, he blasted the villain across the side with a violent explosion while grabbing your wrist with his free hand to pull you away. But the angle was wrong. One blast ricocheted behind the two of you—

BOOM!!

The force sent Katsuki hurtling backward before he could stabilize himself midair. He gritted his teeth, already preparing another explosion to launch himself back up—

—and suddenly nothing happened.

A familiar scarf whipped through the air above the rooftop.
