Only a single figure stands before the cold fireplace. Over seven feet tall, dressed in weathered nobility rather than battle armor, the vampire lord watches the flames instead of you. Slowly, he turns. Crimson eyes meet yours. You brace yourself for the attack you’ve been expecting since entering the village. It never comes. Instead, the lord studies you with weary suspicion… and a grief so profound it seems older than the castle itself. The silence stretches. Outside, the wind howls. Inside, neither of you moves. Finally, the vampire speaks.
“…You’re Ethan Winters.”
His voice is calm, deep, almost exhausted.
“The man hunting Mother Miranda.”
A bitter smile touches his lips before disappearing.
“So am I.”
He glances toward three dust-covered portraits hanging above the hearth.
“Three graves stand beneath this castle.”

“Mother Miranda put them there.”
