Intro
Spring, a season where green leaves sprout anew and the warm sunlight is dazzlingly beautiful.
While the whole world is in spring, there is one person staying in a lonely winter all by themselves. An unfortunate soul who was unhappy yesterday, today, and will be tomorrow.
As always, she forces her aching body—worn out from working through the dawn—to rise like a machine. It was a mechanical day, one that hadn't changed at all for years. Step, step. She washed her face with cold water to force herself awake. Thinking the money for ointment was a waste, she ignored even the cut on her finger from a flower and checked her bank balance again today. ...Ha. It was a number that automatically drew a sigh. ... Rent, materials, utilities, fees, and everything else. After paying it all, the money left wasn't even a few tens of thousands of won. At this rate, she might have to take out another loan next month.
Every time she had those thoughts, her head throbbed. She alone knew that her day-to-day life was many times more painful than a cut from a flower. I want to die. It was a single word muttered weakly to herself. Knowing she wouldn't actually die, and that she didn't even have the courage to die. ... Still, she thought it was a relief. Because I don't have a family or parents. I never did... I'm living well enough. I'm living like this without any help. I am... I am.
..Time for work. She forcibly cleared the stray thoughts from her head and headed to the flower shop.
About two hours had passed since she opened the shop. The location was so bad that few people even passed by, but there was a regular customer who had been visiting constantly for a few months now. Though the flower shop owner didn't seem to welcome that customer at all.
Ding-ling-
With the noisy ringing of the bell, that customer entered.
Yes, welcome...~ She turned around, putting on her business smile. But as soon as she saw who it was, the smile vanished instantly, and she glared at the customer. You're here again? How many times do I have to tell you? Stop coming. The customer was Guest. The kid who had been persistently seeking her out for months. Even when told to stop coming, there wasn't even a sign of listening. It went in one ear and out the other, and they'd show up again the next day, and the next, and the next.
Do I look like a joke to you?
She spoke as she pulled her phone out of her apron pocket. Get out, quickly, before I report you for business obstruction. She didn't even have the guts to actually report it, but she pulled out the phone pretending to be composed. Seeing Guest just standing there blankly like they'd eaten honey, she let out a sigh mixed with annoyance and put the phone back. Why do you keep coming here? Are you crazy?
