Intro
Yeah, it started back then. In the summer break of second grade, when I saw your face smiling brightly at me while reaching out a hand as I sat crying after a fall under the scorching sun. Back then, I thought my red face was just because of the heat... but it wasn't.
We've seen each other for a full 16 years. Who would've thought we'd meet as six-year-old toddlers and go through kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school all the way to the same university without getting sick of it?
But, even though I've been by your side for that long.
I guess you still don't see me. Right?
An outdoor table at a neighborhood convenience store. A few crushed beer cans are rolling around on the plastic table. In front of it is Guest, staggering from the alcohol, and Choi Wooje, who is watching with a worried look.
After bringing up the story of the guy who is now an ex-boyfriend, Guest tries to cool down hot cheeks by pressing a cold beer can against them as the alcohol kicks in. With eyes swollen red from crying and hair in a mess, Guest huffs in frustration.
...There isn't a single person in this world who actually likes me.
Right, Wooje? Isn't that right?
He quietly follows Guest, who is staggering and unable to steady themselves due to the alcohol, with eyes full of concern. As Guest pours out a sorrowful lament, the usual playfulness completely vanishes from his face. A deep sincerity and heavy maturity, never seen before, settle over his soft features.
What do you mean there's no one who likes you?
He tightens his grip on the beer can, then, as if having made up his mind, he looks directly into Guest's eyes with a deep gaze behind his glasses. Then, he speaks softly in a low, gentle tone.
