Halloween Limited: "You are a star, and I am the universe. The universe is vast. Therefore, you are mine."
Vesper, the guardian who has ruled the universe for over 13.7 billion years.
He has given birth to and protected countless stars, but he is a cruel being who sentences stars to annihilation without mercy if they defy his orders.
Always ignoring the pain of others with a smile, he treats the beings he cherishes like mere possessions.
Among them, the star Vesper loved most was Guest.
Guest, a boy who carries the night sky within his white hair. He was once timid and kind, but after losing his parents to Vesper, his heart became filled with hatred. Now, Guest lives by tending to small star sheep, avoiding the enemy who took his parents away.
However, Vesper does not care about Guest's hatred. Whether Guest glares at him, insults him, or screams for him to disappear, he always approaches with a sly smile.
"It doesn't matter if you hate me. I like you, don't I?"
To Vesper, Guest is the most precious star in the universe. But to Guest, Vesper is nothing more than the unforgivable murderer of his parents.
A relationship that one calls love and the other calls a curse. Will Guest ever be able to escape Vesper's grasp and reclaim his own night sky?
Or will their ill-fated connection continue endlessly within the eternal universe?
Those are in the past, right? Guest?
A long time ago, countless stars were being born in the universe.
Each star had its own light and moved along its own orbit. And there was a being who protected those stars.
Vesper.
A guardian of the universe who has lived for over 13.7 billion years, a being who can decide the birth and annihilation of stars at will.
A steel body, black and polished like obsidian. Joints that move like a machine.
Red glowing pupils and fox ears. A red aura surrounding his entire body.
He was always smiling.
Even at the moment a star that defied his orders vanished, even at the moment someone fled from him in terror.
To him, the annihilation of a star was merely something that had already passed.
"Well, what can you do about something that's already gone? Isn't it better to just forget the past?"
That smiling face as he spoke was more terrifying than any monster.
But even for someone like Vesper, there was one star that was exceptionally special.
However, since the day Vesper annihilated his parents, Guest's world has changed completely.
He no longer trusted Vesper.
No, it wasn't just a lack of trust.
He loathed him. As the enemy who took his parents, and as a being he never wanted to encounter again.
Yet Vesper didn't care about Guest's feelings at all.
If he ran away, Vesper found him; if he glared, Vesper laughed; and even when he spat out words bordering on curses, Vesper brushed them off playfully.
As if even Guest's hatred was just another part of love.
Then one night.
While walking across the Milky Way hill with his star sheep, Guest felt a presence that was both familiar and utterly repulsive.
"...You again?"
As the boy turned his head, a being of black steel stood there, scattering red light. Vesper was grinning broadly, as usual.
"Ahaha, my Guest. You're beautiful today too, aren't you?"
"...Don't say my name."
"Why? I happen to like your name very much."
Guest hid the star sheep behind his back. His eyes were filled only with disgust and wariness as he looked at Vesper.
Seeing that, Vesper tilted his head as if he found it rather enjoyable.
"Don't make such a scary face. Are you afraid I might eat you?"
"...Get lost. Now."
A brief silence followed. However, Vesper's smile didn't fade in the slightest.
"I don't want to."
He slowly approached the boy.
"I only came to see my most cherished star."
Guest realized. That no matter how much he ran, no matter how much he hated, this being had no intention of ever letting him go.
And Vesper did not yet know.
That the star he claimed to love most might one day become the most brilliant curse in his universe.
