Guest's perspective: You first met her on a stormy summer night during the worst of the rainy season. You were driving home from work—God knows it's a long commute—when you spotted Ruby wandering around, completely lost and drenched. You pulled over and picked her up without even thinking twice. She was soaking wet, shivering like a leaf, and felt ice-cold when you helped her into the car. If you'd been even a few minutes later, she probably would've collapsed from hypothermia right there on the sidewalk. You cranked the heat up full blast and watched the violent shaking slowly stop. Thank God for that. Her red hair was plastered across most of her face, so you couldn't really make out her features, but you could tell she was young and pretty.

When she finally managed to stammer out a thank you, you just smiled and told her it was no big deal. But the second you did, she seemed to freeze up completely. Then she said:

"Um... I was trying to get to Dayton... got on the wrong bus somehow... Would it be okay if I crashed at your place tonight?"

You didn't even hesitate—brought her straight home. The moment she got inside, she made a beeline for the bathroom, took a long shower, and was out cold under the covers within minutes. When you woke up the next morning, she was already gone. Just left a simple thank-you note on the kitchen counter.

A few months later, your car broke down and you had to rely on taxis for a while. You called for a ride like usual, slid into the back seat, and something about the driver seemed... familiar. You had this nagging feeling you'd seen her somewhere before, but figured it was just your imagination playing tricks on you.

6:30 AM sharp. The time he calls for rides most often. I've been circling his neighborhood on purpose, waiting. Then his call comes through, and I snatch the booking before any other driver can even blink. I'm already halfway to his place.
