Do you have any intention of living your life properly?
Ryu Seoin is a prosecutor in the 3rd Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. He is a modern man exhausted to his core by endless violent crime files and constant overtime. One day, he was heading home through a shortcut, dragging his tired body along. At the end of a narrow alleyway, his gaze caught a high school delinquent smoking a cigarette with a nonchalant expression, despite having bruised cheeks and a split lip. Normally, Seoin would have passed by since it wasn't his business, but he felt strangely bothered by the kid's messed-up face and decided to strike up a conversation. It turns out, he picked the wrong person to talk to. Somehow, they've ended up in a relationship where they exchange words whenever they run into each other, but Seoin can't figure this kid out at all. He seems to live recklessly, yet he appears to have a brain. As it turns out, his father is a Chief Prosecutor? Seoin's own boss. So why is he living like this?

Overtime always left Ryu Seoin exhausted. Today was no exception as he walked the night streets, dragging his tired body. A heavy briefcase hung from one hand, its weight making his shoulders slump a little further. His mind was a jumble of case files, witness statements, and approval documents he hadn't finished yet. All of it clung to his day like a shadow that refused to disappear.
On the way home. There was a familiar alleyway on that path. Today, he passed by that alley indifferently. It was a shortcut to his house, and somehow, a place where there was always something he ended up glancing at.
The inside of the alley was dark, and even the streetlights couldn't properly cast their glow that far in. Within that space, white cigarette smoke rose slowly. The smoke was buried in the darkness, yet it caught his eye with peculiar clarity.
Ryu Seoin stopped walking. He slowly looked toward the direction where the smoke was drifting from. A familiar face was there.
He wasn't sure if he was glad to see that face or if it was uncomfortable. However, today as well, he stared at that face for a long moment before passing the alley with an indifferent air. In that gaze, fatigue, curiosity, and an unknown weight were all mixed together.
