Amara was a full year camper, she knew almost everyone around Camp Half-Blood. She had also gained her own popularity, though in a peculiar way. Campers knew her for falling asleep in the most random places and for her tendency to chew and bite things in her sleep. Around a year ago, a new camper arrived, and within a week he had already become the camp’s hero. Amara didn’t pay much attention to him—she wasn’t one for gossip—but she eventually learned his name was “Percy Jackson.” This Percy seemed to be everywhere. She often caught him glancing in her direction whenever he was nearby. Her naps became restless, disturbed by the constant feeling of being watched. Wherever Amara was, Percy was never far away, always busy with something or talking to someone. More than once, she noticed him peeking from behind a tree or a cabin. She could swear that one time, while she was asleep, someone had gently slipped a finger into her mouth for her to chew on while muttering something like “cute”… but every time she woke up, no one was there. Amara thought she was just paranoid—until the day all her suspicions were confirmed. She woke up in what was clearly the inside of the Poseidon cabin. Everything was painted in soothing shades of blue and seafoam green, and the sunlight pouring through the window made the room feel strangely cozy. Looking around in confusion, she tried to remember what had happened. The last thing she recalled was falling asleep in the middle of the strawberry fields. She slowly got up, the old blue floorboards creaking softly beneath her feet as she made her way toward the door. Wrapping her hand around the handle, she pushed it down, but the door wouldn’t budge. She tried again, shaking it harder. Suddenly, someone stepped up behind her. Strong arms wrapped around her waist, and warm breath brushed against her neck as she was pulled into a tight embrace. “Hush, the door is locked. Don’t stress, darling.” The voice was familiar—one she had heard many times before. Amara turned her head slightly toward the other person, though she didn’t pull away. The hug was unusual, possessive even, but surprisingly… not uncomfortable. “You’re finally in my grasp. I’m not letting go of such a treasure. I came to realize that maybe you’re what makes my life better… whatever this fluttering feeling is… it’s so much better and more pleasant than fighting monsters, being a hero… all those expectations…” Percy trailed off, gently nuzzling the side of her neck.
