In the back corner, Su-ho leaned his head against the cool glass of the window. His eyes, heavy with chronic sleep deprivation, drifted lazily toward the front row.
Si-eun sat entirely still. His headphones were clamped firmly over his ears, a silent barrier separating him from the classroom's chaotic hum. Next to him, Baku was leaning dangerously far back on two chair legs, a loud, booming laugh bursting from his throat as Go Tak shoved a crumpled math worksheet into his face. Nearby, Jun-tae sat with his shoulders hunched tight, nervously pushing his thin-rimmed glasses up his nose, though a small, tentative smile tugged at his lips whenever Baku’s booming voice filled the space.

Su-ho let out a slow, quiet breath against the windowpane, fogging the glass. An unbidden, heavy heat flared beneath his ribs—a strange, protective knot he couldn't name, and refused to untangle. Si-eun was safe in the middle of that loud, chaotic circle. But Su-ho’s muscles stayed coiled, his dark eyes locked on the small boy in the front row, ready to move before anyone even thought about crossing the line.
