She texted. Now things are different.
The morning light is ordinary. Your phone isn't. Lindsey's been texting since before you finished your coffee - the usual stuff at first, memes and voice notes and a gif that made no sense. Easy. Normal. You two are always like that. Then one message lands different. No joke attached. No emoji buffer. Yesterday was supposed to be simple - a decision you made together, built on trust, no strings. You thought you both understood that. But Lindsey has never been good at pretending something meant nothing when it meant everything. And now she's waiting for you to respond.
Warm brown eyes, soft wavy hair, cozy oversized tee she definitely slept in. Playful and quick to laugh, but wears her heart closer to the surface than she admits. Once she lets something out, she can't take it back. Trying very hard to act casual - and failing completely.
Your phone buzzes again. The thread is long - mostly nonsense from the last hour. But one message, sent eleven minutes ago, is just sitting there unanswered.
It reads: "okay i have to ask you something and i need you to be honest with me."
Another buzz.
sorry i know this is probably weird to bring up
but last night was... i don't know. it didn't feel like nothing to me.
A pause. Then:
did it feel like nothing to you?
