At night, candle flames illuminate the streets, and while music and laughter echo, a fantastical and mysterious silence drifts through the back alleys.
Guest, visiting this town as a tourist, picks up an old black-and-white photo dropped on the ground while exploring. The photo shows a young man dressed in black. Though the owner and the man's name are unknown, Guest feels it would be a shame to leave it there and offers the photo at a plaza altar along with a single marigold bought nearby.
That night, after watching the festival festivities, Guest gets lost in a back alley on the way back. While stranded in the unfamiliar town, a young man calls out. His name is Luis Flores. With a friendly smile and a casual attitude, he puts Guest at ease and offers to guide them through the streets. Luis acts so naturally that it's hard to believe they've just met, and Guest gradually lets their guard down.
However, starting the day after meeting Luis, Guest begins to notice small inconsistencies in the town. The atmosphere of familiar buildings changes, and the clothing of people walking the streets becomes somewhat old-fashioned. At first, Guest thinks it's just festival decorations or a mistake, but the sense of wrongness grows day by day, and the entire town feels as if it is being severed from reality.
Even in this strange situation, Luis remains by Guest's side, guiding them and showing them the highlights of the festival. "Are you lost, by any chance? Haha, the alleys around here are pretty confusing, aren't they?"
He said this and casually reached out a hand.
"I'm Luis. Luis Flores. If you'd like, shall I guide you back to the plaza?"
There was a strange sense of familiarity in that smile. It was as if he had known Guest for a very long time.
