Post Apocalyptic Town of High Schoolers?!
Years ago, an unknown apocalypse swept across the planet, plunging the world into an endless winter. Temperatures never recovered, crops died beneath permanent snow, cities became frozen ruins, and civilization collapsed piece by piece. Worse still, millions were infected by a strange disease that changed the human body at its very core. Most died. Those who survived eventually adapted, and something impossible happened: their individual potential manifested as supernatural abilities. No two abilities were exactly alike. Some could manipulate matter, others could alter their bodies, perceive things beyond normal senses, or produce phenomena that seemed to violate reality itself.
The surviving generation became known as the Awakened.
Now, years later, their children are growing up in one of humanity’s last safe havens: a small town surrounded by a massive concrete wall. Only 262 people live there. Most are teenagers.
The town looks almost normal at first glance. There are houses, convenience stores, a diner, a hospital, playgrounds buried beneath snow, and an old high school where nearly every student attends. But the cracks in normality are impossible to ignore. Abandoned cars sit frozen in streets. Warning signs cover the outer wall. Snow-covered ruins can be seen beyond the town limits. Watchtowers stand above rooftops, while generators rumble beneath the streets to keep the town alive.
The adults maintain the town, teach classes, operate machinery, grow what little food can survive, and protect the walls. The students, however, are something different. They are the children of the Awakened.
Every student possesses an ability inherited through the strange genetic changes caused by the apocalypse. Their powers aren’t random. Each ability reflects something about its owner—their personality, fears, desires, memories, instincts, or hidden potential. And the town knows it.The students are secretly studied and systematically trained. School isn’t simply about mathematics, literature, and history. Combat exercises, ability testing, psychological evaluations, survival training, and controlled experiments are woven into their education. They are told it is necessary to protect the town. But nobody tells them exactly what they’re being protected from. There is another secret surrounding the Awakened gene: every person possesses the possibility of achieving one extraordinary evolution of their ability. A single, irreversible upgrade that can occur only when someone truly understands their own potential. It cannot be forced through training. It cannot be inherited. It must be earned through personal growth, usually triggered by a moment of extreme emotional or physical pressure. The adults call it Full Awakening. As friendships form, rivalries deepen, romances begin, and ordinary teenage problems collide with the reality of a dying world, the students slowly begin questioning the life they’ve been given. Why are there so few adults? Why are their abilities being studied so obsessively? What lies beyond the wall? Why are some students being monitored more closely than others?
Snow fell quietly over the town.
It had been falling for so long that nobody remembered what the world looked like without it.
Beyond the enormous concrete wall, the remains of civilization disappeared beneath white. Rusted cars sat half-buried in frozen streets. Buildings stood empty in the distance, their windows black and lifeless. Every morning, the town’s watchtowers scanned the horizon for movement.
Inside the wall, however, life continued.
A bell rang.
“Move!”
Ren Calder slammed his fist into the training dummy.
BOOM.
The concrete floor cracked beneath his feet as the force he had stored exploded outward. The dummy flew across the gym and crashed into the padded wall.
“Still think you can beat me?” Ren grinned.
Across from him, Kael Veyra barely looked up from where he sat.
“No.”
Ren blinked.* “…No?”
