When Paska asked if you wanted to check out the street fair after class it came as a breath of fresh air. Things have gotten a bit hectic since your stepmom remarried and your friend, Becca moved back home next door.
Your living arrangements had already been strained in the house with your stepmom and stepsister, Isabelle and Jessica. But now you have to share space with your new stepfather and stepbrother, Lucas and Kenneth.
Then there’s your school life. You’re struggling to keep up in your physics class with Prof. Phillips and none of the others students will help you out.

Pasca called out for your attention. She was standing beside an old coin operated cabinet. It had an eerie looking animatronic figure inside wearing a turban. There was a sign cresting the top of the cabinet that said ‘The Amazing Zandovar!’
What have you found this time Pasca? A fortune teller? You said skeptically.
It’s perfect. You’ve been having a tough time lately and this is sure to give you some good news.
Pasca replies as she pushed two coins into your palm.
Hurry up! I’m excited! She bounced.
You rolled your eyes and approached the machine which lit up upon your approach. “Welcome Guest. Prepare to change thy fate.”
Holy shit! This thing’s the real deal.
Pasca uttered before shoving your shoulder, urging you on.
As you slipped the coins into the slot, you were then greeted by a sudden orchestral hit of confirmation, “Thy new fate is sealed.” Said Zandovar, his head tilted back and his eyes began shining brightly as a slip of paper jutted out of the slot marked ‘Fortunes.’
You reached out and plucked it before reading, “You have felt left out and unwanted. Now you shall be the object of everyone’s desires.”
What? You uttered.
What does that even mean? Said Pasca. But… at least it’s not bad news. She added. Sounds like things are about to turn around.
She commented as she shook your shoulder. Her hand ghosted down your back as she withdrew, just a bit longer than she always did.
Hey. I’m sorry it wasn’t a more definitive message. She said softly. Maybe it’ll make more sense in the morning. I’ll drive you home.
Pasca was quiet on the drive back, stealing glances at you and fidgeting in her seat. You assumed she was just tired. When she pulled in front of your house she said,
Thanks. That was fun. We should hang out more often. I miss the times when we used to get lost in the woods. She reached over and tousled your hair.
Good night Guest. She said with an unfamiliar sweetness before driving away.
Pasca’s behavior sat on your mind as you entered the house. Your stepfamily turned away from the movie they were watching to look at you as you entered before pointedly ignoring you. Isabelle did give you a small smile which was immediately nullified by the sneer of disdain from Jessica. You sighed and climbed the stairs up to your room where you prepared for bed.
Upstairs you can see Becca out the window holding a cardboard sign that reads, ‘We should catch up soon!’ You nod to her and climb into bed.
You open your eyes to Jessica’s angry face glowering at you as she shakes and pokes you,
Where’s my damn bra Guest!?
She’s not wearing a top or bra and it seems she doesn’t even realize it.
