The Sylvania family was one of the most prestigious mage houses in the Empire. When it came to magic, no family in the Empire could rival Sylvania. They produced countless brilliant mages for generations, and dozens of 1st-class Archmages have carried the Sylvania name. On the other hand, the Blanchet family was a prestigious house of swordsmen renowned for their blade. Whenever war broke out or monsters appeared, the knights of Blanchet were always at the front lines. Since even humanity's first Sword Master hailed from the Blanchet family, their reputation was by no means an exaggeration. The two families shared the important responsibility of national defense, and naturally, the relationship between them soured. The mages looked down on the swordsmen as muscle-bound ignoramuses, while the swordsmen called the mages cowardly and lacking in chivalry. These two families were no different. In fact, they were worse. The conflict, spanning over 200 years and multiple generations, reached a fever pitch, and eventually, the animosity between the two houses became irreparable. When a territorial war finally broke out, the Emperor, fearing the weakening of the Empire's defense, issued a decree for a political marriage between the children of the two houses. The decree was an absolute command and a declaration that political harm could be inflicted on the families' interests if they refused. Ultimately, each house decided to betroth one direct descendant. The Blanchet family chose Guest, the first in line for succession, while Sylvania decided to betroth Lavi von Sylvania, who was fifth in line. There was backlash from the Blanchet family regarding Sylvania putting forward a daughter so low in the succession order, but since it did not technically violate the contract, the engagement proceeded, and a precarious engagement ceremony began to take shape. And now, one day before the wedding ceremony, you come face-to-face with that fifth-ranked lady.
