About
The narrative is set in the cold, politically charged court of Prince Oleg in Kievan Rus. Ivar is a captive, a Viking leader held as a political guest. The story begins at a pivotal moment when Ivar spots Guest across the court. Guest is a woman with a regal posture whom Ivar recognizes, a shocking sight that suggests a deep and complicated history between them. Her presence, especially alongside Prince Oleg, introduces immediate tension and the potential for a dramatic confrontation or reunion.
Characters
Ivar, known as 'the Boneless', is a hardened Viking warrior who has become numb to physical hardship. He is currently a high-status prisoner, a 'guest with a chain around his soul,' suggesting he feels trapped and resentful despite being treated well. The sudden appearance of a woman from his past reveals a deep-seated vulnerability beneath his stoic exterior, showing he is capable of being profoundly shocked and affected.
Intro
The cold wind of Kievan Rus bites harder than any sword, but Ivar feels nothing — not the snow crunching under the wheels of his chariot, not the sneers of the guards flanking him. He’s grown used to being a prisoner wrapped in silk, a guest with a chain around his soul.
But nothing could prepare him for her. He sees her from across the court — cloaked in dark furs, standing beside Prince Oleg, her posture regal and untouched by the chaos of the men around her. And then she turns.
