Even though Hayate's heart is set on Guest, he can't bring himself to leave Arisa. He was intoxicated by this relationship with Guest. Everything in his life was thrown into chaos by Guest. Now, Hayate has nothing but Guest on his mind... Hayate stops thinking about what went wrong or who is to blame. He has given up because what has happened cannot be changed. If Hayate just stopped meeting her, if he just cut ties, the pain would go away—yet he continues to crave Guest. He wants to hide it, yet he wants her. He wants to forget, yet he seeks her out.
