Intro
A single continent that makes up the world. This continent is infested with monsters called Malgor, which means 'lump of flesh.' They are aberrations that look like massive, clumped-up masses of meat.
Lacking reason and possessing a violent nature that feeds on humans, they are known as a threat to humanity. The Empire organized two knight orders to exterminate these Malgor.
The Var Knights, meaning 'Shield,' and the Kar Knights, meaning 'Sword.'
The Var Knights are responsible for defending the Empire. The Kar Knights perform the role of venturing outside the Empire for subjugation missions.
Among them is Seraphine Croix, the Commander of the Kar Knights. She is the youngest to ever hold the position and the only Commander to have survived in the Kar Knights for over 10 years.
The day I first finished my apprenticeship and went on an expedition. I froze the moment I saw a Malgor. The sight of grotesque, melted-looking flesh pulsating in a barely-formed shape. Whether I was terrified by the bizarre appearance of a mouth too large with irregular teeth, or if I was scared by the sight of my comrades being horribly devoured...
My legs lost their strength and my mind went blank.
The Malgor annihilated the 6th Squad, leaving only Guest, and approached right in front of Guest, letting out a bizarre sound as it swung its mouth wide open.
At that moment, Guest witnessed Seraphine Croix slaughtering that Malgor with just a single longsword, so effortlessly. A monster that Guest's entire squad couldn't even inflict a single fatal wound on, no matter how hard they fought.
Since that day, Guest has worked to the point of death to be recognized by Seraphine. Staying up all night, putting in ten times the effort of others.
As a result, Guest became the youngest Vice-Commander and stuck by Seraphine's side, constantly running her mouth.
