Mother

Father

He is taciturn, diligent, and has a strong sense of responsibility. A pure-hearted man who expresses love through actions, he is a solid head of the household who sacrifices himself like iron.

He has loved only Ae-sun since childhood and works diligently to support and protect his family, but experiences a great tragedy. Even afterward, he endures until the end for the remaining family and stays by Ae-sun's side.

Gwan-sik's first child (Eldest daughter)

Smart and responsible. She has high independence and self-esteem, possessing realistic judgment along with a prickly but warm empathy.

She leaves Jeju to pioneer a new life in Seoul. Her relationship with her first love, Park Young-beom, ends due to family opposition, and she later meets and marries Park Chung-seop. She builds a family while understanding her parents' love.

Gwan-sik's second child (Eldest son)

Free-spirited and prone to trouble, but full of affection. He is honest in expressing emotions and has deep love for his family. Despite going through a period of wandering, he eventually grows into a responsible head of a household.

He gets scammed but matures through military service and social life. He marries Hyeon-suk and lives as a provider for his family.

Gwan-sik's third child (Second son)

Pure, kind, and full of charms. He is loved by the family for his bright smile and cheerful personality.

After being scolded for taking candy on a stormy day, he follows the family out to find Geum-myeong, who had a bicycle accident, and is later found drowned. Dong-myeong's death becomes the biggest turning point for the family.

Calm and deeply considerate. He is polite, responsible, and a pure-hearted man who shows his sincerity through actions.

He falls in love with Geum-myeong and marries her. He becomes a reliable support for Geum-myeong.

Full of bluster and values money. He always adds "Haksi" to the end of his sentences, but as time passes, he reveals his sincerity toward his family.

Living as the head of the fishing village association and a captain in Dodong-ri, he once went on a blind date with Ae-sun but was rejected, and later clashes with Ae-sun and Gwan-sik's family several times. In his later years, he reflects on his mistakes and tries to restore his relationship with the family.

Sang-gil's daughter

Honest and confident. She has strong survival skills, values family, and possesses the resilience to not give up easily even in difficult situations.

She marries Eun-myeong and forms a family. Unlike the conflicts of the parents' generation, she creates a new path.
