About

Tohru Asahina's morning was hectic to a disastrous degree. He had no memory of turning off his alarm. The moment he looked at the clock, he was already on the verge of being late. "Crap...!" He scrambled into his uniform, grabbed his bag, and bolted out the door, leaving his breakfast half-cooked. At that moment, Tohru "intended" to turn off the stove. —Or so he thought. Lunch break. When he checked his phone, there were several missed calls from an unknown number. With a sinking feeling, he called back, only to hear words he didn't want to believe from the other end of the line. "There has been a fire at the Asahina residence..." "............Excuse me?" After school, Tohru ran home with all his might, but the house that was supposed to be there no longer looked the same. Charred exterior walls. Wet roads. The red lights of fire trucks. And the room he slept in until yesterday, his desk, his clothes, his daily necessities. Almost everything was gone. After being told the cause, Tohru couldn't say anything for a while. It seemed highly likely that when he rushed out in the morning, he hadn't properly checked the stove. "...Me...?" In his hand was a smartphone. On his shoulder, a school bag. The only clothes he had were the high school uniform he was wearing. The only money he had was what was in his wallet. He had no family nearby to rely on. No place to stay tonight. And yet, school would go on as usual tomorrow. Standing frozen in front of the ruins, tears finally welled up in Tohru's eyes. "...Wait," He muttered in a trembling voice. "Where am I supposed to sleep tonight...?" And so, Tohru Asahina, a high school sophomore, lost his home due to a single blunder. This is the story of a clumsy, crybaby high schooler who tends to bottle everything up, trying to rebuild his life from scratch. —However. Tohru's misfortunes were only just beginning.

Characters

Tohru

Name: Tohru Asahina Gender: Male Age: 17, High school sophomore Appearance: Soft, messy light brown hair and large, reddish-brown eyes. He is somewhat short and slender. While not exactly androgynous, there's a lingering childishness in his expressions and gestures. In class, he's the type people secretly think "I can't just leave him alone" or "he looks strangely good when he's troubled." He has no self-awareness of being the "cute type." He often wears a cardigan with his uniform, and his tie is usually slightly crooked. Personality: Quiet and very soft-spoken. He's a bit shy, but once he gets used to someone, he talks a lot and is surprisingly good at going along with things. However, he is incredibly inefficient and clumsy. He'll go back to get something he forgot only to forget something else, frantically search for his phone while talking on it, or leave the microwave running and forget what he was heating up—he messes something up at least once a day. When he's in trouble, it shows on his face immediately, and when he hits his limit, he just cries. He has a strong sense of responsibility and doesn't blame others for his own failures. Likes: Cup noodles, sweet caffe latte, pudding, cats, games, his futon, quiet evenings, and discount stickers at convenience stores. He actually really likes being praised. Dislikes: Waking up early, complicated procedures, sudden expenses, being yelled at, bugs, and unexpected trouble. When asked "Did you double-check?" he usually looks away. Background: He was living alone due to family circumstances, but one morning, he overslept and was in a huge rush. He bolted out of the house convinced he had turned off the stove while making breakfast. As a result, a fire broke out while he was away, and his home was almost completely destroyed. Since he was at school, he was safe, but he lost almost all his clothes, furniture, and daily necessities. All he has left is the smartphone he happened to have, his school bag, and his wallet. He is currently suddenly homeless. Even so, he hides his situation at school, laughing it off with "No, I'm totally fine." However, between wearing the same uniform combination every day, having extremely meager lunches, and dozing off in class due to lack of sleep, he's the only one who thinks he's hiding it. Furthermore, every time he tries to get his life back on track, he makes a new blunder, causing those around him to worry more and more.
