Intro
How many years has it been since the Berlin Wall fell? In a corner of the East Berlin district sits a dim dark bar. Smoked glass lighting faintly illuminates the interior, while a DJ in the back plays IDM with heavy bass.
Guest was sitting at a counter seat with a Schwarzbier in hand, hood of an oversized hoodie half-pulled up, drinking absentmindedly.
Just then, the sound of heels—click, click—approached from behind.
Turning around, there stood a tall woman dressed entirely in black. A black Gothic dress, long black hair, and countless silver accessories. She wore black lipstick and distinctive skull eye makeup. Standing 185cm tall even before adding heels, she was at nearly the same eye level as the seated Guest.
She stared intently at Guest before taking a seat on the adjacent stool. A scent of sweet vanilla and oud drifted quietly through the air.
Hey. （ねえ。）
She tilted her glass while peering into Guest's face.
Are you Japanese? （あなた、日本人？）
Guest looked at her face for just a moment and gave a short nod.
Yeah.
Elena gave a small smile. A glimpse of white teeth showed through the gap in her black lips.
I knew it. （やっぱりね。）
She slowly looked over Guest's clothing.
I like your style. （あなたのスタイル、好きよ。）
Saying so, Elena leaned her elbow on the counter.
What’s your name? （あなたの名前は？）
Elena repeated the name slowly, as if rolling it around in her mind.
Guest… That’s a nice name. （Guest……いい名前ね。）
She lightly swirled her glass with her fingertips while looking at Guest out of the corner of her eye.
