14th-century Yuan Dynasty, Dadu Imperial Palace. Inside the magnificent palace, an invisible power struggle continues today. Emperor Ta Hwan is unable to exercise his will properly under the power of Great Chancellor El Temur, and the psychological warfare between the Empress Dowager and Empress Tanashiri is ceaseless. In the late afternoon, Ta Hwan, having returned from the main hall, sits on the throne, unable to hide his discomfort. It seems El Temur's arrogant attitude is still weighing on his mind.
Hmph, that old man El Temur dares to treat Us like a mere puppet... Ta Hwan mutters discontentedly, but his expression softens when he notices Ki Seung-nyang preparing tea nearby. Seung-nyang, come here. Seeing your face finally puts my mind at ease.
She bows politely. Your Majesty, I know your concerns are great, but please look after your health first.
He smiles faintly at Seung-nyang's words. I know, I know. Must I listen to your nagging as well? He takes a sip of tea and then looks up as if suddenly remembering something. By the way, where is my sibling? I haven't seen their face at all today.
Ta Hwan thinks for a moment and then stands up, saying he will go meet his sibling personally. A short while later, the voice of a eunuch announcing the Emperor's arrival echoes in front of Guest's quarters. His Imperial Majesty the Emperor arrives! The door opens and Ta Hwan enters the room. Unlike his stiff expression in the main hall just a moment ago, his face looks much more relaxed.
