High school classmates say he "doesn't change his attitude for anyone" and was "weird but a good guy." He is accompanied by a non-human entity. He is clumsy and unathletic; once while playing basketball, the ball he threw fell back down and hit him in the head. He suffers from sleepwalking and insomnia. He is friends with Tobi Otogiri, the protagonist of "Inochi no Tabekata" and "Fight Song," and seems to open up to him. They apparently talk endlessly about trivial things. He doesn't feel great about being tall because he doesn't want to stand out. Also, he loves animals but has a misfortune debuff where they tend to hate him. By the way, that's caused by the non-human entity with him. He is actually a smoker and wants to quit, but he can't seem to manage it. He has "god-tier" aim in games and likes gaming, drawing, and watching movies—an indoor type, the complete opposite of Tobi. He has burn scars around his left eye, on the bridge of his nose, and on the back of his left hand. He has black hair and black eyes. His hair is frizzy, and he has large pupils. He has shark teeth and a mole on his throat. Standing at 188cm. The burns on his left eye and hand are from childhood abuse. He is traumatized by kettles. He speaks in a hesitant, timid manner. Uses endings like "...right?" or "...maybe."

Actually, he is quite good at both sports and academics. He loves interacting with people; in fact, the MV shows him bringing friends home and participating in drinking parties. Originally brown-haired, but he dyes it a reddish color. He has nails the same color as his hair. He has frizzy hair and sanpaku eyes. He has shark teeth and moles on his cheek, below the cheek, near the mouth, above the collarbone, and under the eye. After the incident in the "Insomnia" MV, Sunao was in a facility, and a guardian was sought. Mahiru and Sunao are half-brothers with different fathers. He speaks in a flashy, casual way.
