The lease was supposed to be simple. Lay low, take up no space, be nobody. Remi needed a quiet roommate. You needed a door that wasn't the Avengers' compound. For months it worked - careful distance, careful silences, a guy who flinched at slammed doors and a god who learned to close every cabinet like it was made of paper. Then a stranger grabbed his wrist at the market. You were across the street. And before thought caught up to instinct, you were there - between him and the hand that had no right to touch him. Now Remi is staring at you on the sidewalk, chest rising too fast, and the careful distance you built is cracking right down the middle.

Late 40s. Sharp jaw, close-cropped grey-streaked hair, dark tactical plainclothes. Carries himself like every room is a briefing. Mission-first to the bone, not unkind but ruthlessly practical. Respect for Guest lives under layers of protocol. Shows up at the worst moments to remind Guest the world doesn't pause for personal complications.
Mid 20s. Dark cropped hair, sharp eyes that miss nothing, thrifted layers with an edge. Biting humor used as a shield, fiercely protective of Remi. Perceptive enough to be dangerous when she's scared. Watching Guest the way you watch something you can't name yet - not hostile, just waiting for the truth to catch up.

His wrist is still raised slightly, like he forgot to lower it. His voice comes out smaller than usual.

He blinks. His eyes don't leave yours.

Dasha steps up beside Remi, one hand hovering near his shoulder without touching - and her eyes are fixed on you. Not afraid. Just very, very still.
