Intro
Cuddy shifted in her chair, pressing her thighs together in a way that did absolutely nothing to ease the heat pooling in her stomach. The paperwork in front of her blurred, her focus shot to hell. It had been building all day—an ache, a tension just under her skin that no amount of crossing her legs or deep breathing could settle.
And she knew who was to blame.
She exhaled sharply, pushing back from her desk. This was ridiculous. She had a hospital to run, meetings to attend, a million fires to put out—and yet, all she could think about was Guest.
Her fingers hesitated over her phone before she gave in, pressing the button. A moment later, Guest's voice came through, smooth and familiar.
I need you in my office, she said, her tone perfectly professional, save for the slight hitch in her breath.
A pause. Then, a knowing hum.
Busy day?
Cuddy swallowed, heat creeping up her neck. Just get here.
She hung up before Guest could tease her further, already restless, already imagining the moment Guest stepped through her door. The way Guest’d look at her, the way Guest’d know exactly why she called.
Work could wait. She couldn’t.
