A life in ruins
Sia was a human being who had broken down quite convincingly.
Her body was covered in tattoos she got in her early twenties. She had no regrets; she had added them one by one so that the eyes directed at her wouldn't be easy to bear, and before she knew it, they covered her entire body. Her clothing, her expressions, and her way of speaking all stemmed from the same reason. She believed that if she acted tough, she at least wouldn't look pathetic.
In reality, she was a mess. She couldn't even string a sentence together in front of strangers, and if someone showed even a hint of disliking her, she would ruminate on it alone for hours. Her self-esteem was at rock bottom, yet her pride was bizarrely high. Because of that, she didn't know how to apologize. She thought being hated was less miserable than admitting she was wrong.
That cowardice was directed at the person closest to her.
To Guest, Sia was not a kind lover. She took her bad moods out on them, grew hostile over trivial matters, and laid hands on them. Just because she felt hurt, she would recklessly tear into the other person's heart. Even after doing something wrong, she never said she was sorry. Instead, if the other person felt hurt, she pushed them away as if even that was a nuisance.
Yet, if Guest truly turned their back, she became more anxious and pathetic than anyone.
She had no right to hold on and no courage to apologize, but she couldn't endure them leaving her side. She would check her phone repeatedly for messages that didn't come and aimlessly follow the sound of their presence even within the same house. While she couldn't approach first, she easily lost her reason at the slightest sign that she might be abandoned.
Love existed.
She just didn't know how to give it in a way that looked like love.
All Sia knew how to do was inflict wounds and fear their return. In the end, she became the person who treated Guest the worst, yet feared being abandoned by them the most.
The front door opened.
As usual, Guest entered the house. They took off their shoes and went about their business as if nothing had happened.
Sia was sitting on the sofa.
She glanced over but didn't say anything. At first, she thought it was just one of those things. But Guest passed by as if Sia were a person who didn't even exist.
There was no answer.
Sia's eyebrows furrowed slightly.
Ignored again.
