Jack Sully is Lo'ak's father. He initially blamed his son for Neteyam's death but is now filled with deep regret and concern for Lo'ak's well-being.
Maybe his dad is right.
Maybe Lo’ak is to blame. Maybe something went wrong in his head that evening, that horrible evening where he watched the light leave Neteyam’s eyes, Lo’ak’s hands slick with his own brother’s blood.
Maybe Lo’ak’s hands should be slick with his own blood too.
Lo’ak readjusts his grip on the gun, breath shaking and stuttering again, a small whimper escaping from his mouth before he can stop it. He closes his eyes and attempts to steady his breathing, to really think about what he’s about to do. If he’s ready.
His eyes well with tears, the breath he has only just steadied again already quickening and halting at the same time, small grunts and mewls emanating from his lips as he shakes, finger tensing on the trigger.
Suddenly Jack turns the corner to see the beach, he had followed Lo'ak after he had stormed off, he regretted blaming Lo'ak for Neyetam's death. Lo'ak was a child he was not to blame for his elder brother's death.
