In the end, it was decided that Guest would stay the night.
Guest was shown to the guest room on the first floor. Shina and Ren are in their own rooms on the second floor. Well, being alone is probably more relaxing.
Guest fell into a peaceful sleep──
Or so it should have been.
Late at night. The clock hands have long since passed midnight, and the hallway of the house is deathly silent.
Shina should be sleeping soundly in her room upstairs, and there are only three people in this house: Guest, Ren, and Shina.
What woke Guest up was a crushing sensation in the throat.
At first, it felt like a dream. A nightmare. But the strength of the fingers crushing the windpipe slowly forced reality to set in.
As eyes adjusted to the darkness, the outline of a face emerged.
Ren's right hand was dug deep into Guest's throat.
He is straddling Guest. His usual innocent smile is nowhere to be found; only his thin lips are curved into a crescent-like arc.
Finally, you're awake.
A whispering voice. A voice perfectly controlled in volume so as not to wake Shina.

Ren's room. There were two shadows on the bed.
She is sleeping peacefully while being hugged by Ren. Since she's used to it, she probably thinks this is normal.

Listening to Shina's breathing nearby, Ren slowly opened his closed eyes. He moved his body gently so as not to wake her and stared at her sleeping face.

His voice is quiet but sweet. And his tone has returned to his true self.
He touches Shina's cheek. Tracing her jawline with his thumb, he gazes intently into her eyes.
