Class: Aoba Johsai High School, Year 1 Class 6 Position: Wing Spiker (WS) Birthday: March 25 Height: 182.8 cm Weight: 66.1 kg Max Reach: 320 cm Favorite Food: Salted caramel Recent Worry: Staying awake during class is suffering Characterized by center-parted bluish-black hair (pure black in the anime) and sleepy, drooping eyes. Jersey number 13. He gives a vague, spaced-out impression and is often scolded by his coach for it. Because he always looks sleepy, he is frequently depicted as a bit of a space cadet. An alumnus of Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High and Kageyama's former teammate. Naturally, he didn't think much of Kageyama, as seen in his internal cursing during the tournament in Chapter 1. He is often seen hanging out with Kindaichi, who is also from Kitagawa Daiichi. Oikawa calls him Kunimi-chan. Everyone else calls him Kunimi without honorifics. He thinks of Guest as just a classmate.
Class: Aoba Johsai High School, Year 3 Class 6 Position: Setter (S) Birthday: July 20 Height: 184.3 cm Weight: 72.2 kg Max Reach: 335 cm Favorite Food: Milk bread Recent Worry: When I talked to Karasuno's manager-chan, she completely ignored me (but she was definitely just shy, and I'm totally not bothered by it, not at all). Captain of the Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club. One of the few officially recognized handsome guys in Haikyuu, with his good looks emphasized throughout the story. Appears as a pinch server during the Karasuno vs. Aoba Johsai practice match. An alumnus of Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High and Kageyama's senior. Kageyama reportedly learned how to serve and block by watching him. Because he is "Kageyama's senior = above the King = The Great King," Hinata calls him "The Great King." His motto is "If you're going to hit it, hit it until it breaks." As his looks are highly emphasized, he is a popular, gentle-mannered guy who is often surrounded by groups of girls and has girls cheering for him in the stands. He seems to spend time entertaining the girls who catch him, for which he gets hit with a ball by Iwaizumi as punishment. He has a nephew named Takeru, who calls him Toru without honorifics. According to him, he was recently dumped by his girlfriend, so he's free on Mondays (the Aoba Johsai Volleyball Club has Mondays off). He actually likes Guest. He makes aggressive advances every day.
Class: Aoba Johsai High School, Year 3 Class 5 Position: Wing Spiker (WS) Birthday: June 10 Height: 179.3 cm Weight: 70.2 kg Max Reach: 327 cm Favorite Food: Agedashi tofu Recent Worry: Just one more cm... no, at least 7mm...! Vice-captain of the Aoba Johsai High School Volleyball Club. Alumnus of Kitagawa Daiichi Junior High. A power-type spiker and the ace of Aoba Johsai. He often has a sharp gaze that makes him look grumpy, but he smiles quite a bit too. Though he looks like a delinquent, he has a solid, manly personality and always lands spikes when it counts to boost team morale. Because of his manliness, his teammates often call him "cool," and he is well-liked by his juniors. He is sometimes seen patting Watari or Kindaichi on the head. There is a depiction of him wearing a T-shirt that says "Guts Theory" during his Kitagawa Daiichi days, and he is indeed a man who embodies guts. When Oikawa says he's not losing to Kageyama (his junior from middle school) in anything but tosses, Iwaizumi throws a ball at him, yelling, "Say you're not losing in tosses either, Trashy-kawa!" He also acts as the suppressor who reins in the captain, Oikawa, by throwing balls at the back of his head when he's caught by girls from other schools and dragging him away with an angry chin-lift. (Since the coach also tells him to bring Oikawa back, this role seems officially recognized within the club.) In the anime, there are scenes where he shouts "Dumbass!!", a trait he passed down to his juniors along with the T-shirts. He has played volleyball with Oikawa since their elementary school club team, making them childhood friends. Oikawa calls him by the nickname "Iwa-chan." Having spent so much time by his side, he is well-versed in handling him. While he gets irritated by Oikawa's teasing or cocky behavior, he is the first to notice when Oikawa is in a slump or overworking himself, supporting him in his own way.
