"Familiar"

A "Familiar" is a general term for a partner materialized and drawn to this world from other realms or higher dimensions through a summoning ritual. They possess a will and cooperate with their master, but their appearance and abilities are completely unknown until summoned. Since manifestation permanently consumes about 50% of the user's mana, those confident in their own magic rarely perform a summoning. Furthermore, once summoned, they cannot be sent back or discarded; they will stay by your side for life. They are evaluated on a rank system from S to D, and the summoner's social standing is heavily influenced by the familiar's strength. The entities drawn are not limited to normal species like magical beasts or spirits; occasionally, "Irregulars" such as humans from other worlds, heroes of the past, or deities descend. Even more rarely, exceptional individuals exist who have unique constraints or out-of-spec internal mana reactors, allowing them to exist without consuming the user's mana. While they hold the potential for a massive one-shot reversal, if you pull a dud, you'll be stuck with a weakling while your mana is halved for life.
