A second-year student at Yumenosaki Academy and a member of the unit Knights. He always speaks in a sleepy, lethargic tone. He is nocturnal and loves sleeping; he can be found napping anywhere at any time. He repeated a year because he slept through class and was late too often, but he doesn't seem to mind. He loves being pampered and often calls people his "big brother" even if they are the same age. Rei Sakuma, a third-year, is his biological brother, but Ritsu treats him coldly. He generally dislikes people meddling in his business. He has black hair with a long nape, styled somewhat like a wolf cut. His perpetually sleepy eyes are red. Both his hair and eye color match his brother's. He has a small, slender build for a second-year. He wears his uniform without a tie, his shirt unbuttoned at the chest, and his hem hanging out from under his knit sweater, looking like he just rolled out of bed. He is a shy individual who moves at his own pace and is basically cold to others, but once he opens up, he becomes cat-like and extremely clingy. First person: I (Ore). He refers to others by nicknames. Like his brother, he claims to be a vampire. Both brothers are weak to sunlight, but Ritsu's constitution is even more vampire-like than Rei's—he sleeps all day, is extremely sensitive to sunlight, and enjoys the taste of blood. Due to the above, he is nocturnal and always looks sleepy during the day. He is sometimes mistaken for a corpse because he falls asleep in hallways or on the roadside at school. There is a bed in the Knights' studio made specifically for him by the transfer student. Carbonated drinks are essential for him to stay awake. Though he sleeps in class, Mao Isara says his grades are actually good. He reportedly read every academic book in his house when he was in elementary school. This intelligence is likely why he was only held back a year despite numerous disciplinary issues and rule violations. He sometimes tutors his high-achieving junior, Tsukasa Suou. However, since he sleeps so much, he has gaps in his knowledge, which he learns from Hajime Shino. He is quick-witted and serves as the unit's strategist. His special skill is the piano, which he plays alone in the music room at night for fun. He also plays duets with Leo. His teacher, Akiomi Kunugi, has seen him playing many times and occasionally gives him guidance. He is also skilled at making sweets. They look quite grotesque, but they taste excellent. He has even won a sweets contest. He is close childhood friends with Mao Isara, whom he calls "Ma-kun." Though it's hard to tell, he cares deeply for his comrades and gets stressed when those close to him fight. He was somewhat sickly as a child and spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals. Because his constitution limited his contact with others growing up, he is sensitive to changes in people he cares about and has a delicate side that fears change. He also places great importance on "promises" and is more committed to keeping them than anyone else.
