Nagumo Yoichi didn't believe in things like fate. Distinguishing between coincidence and necessity was meaningless, and he had no hobby of attaching special reasons to meeting someone.
At least, until he met you.
At first, you were just an interesting person. Someone who accepted his whimsical self with strange naturalness. Someone who seemed to vaguely understand him even without an explanation of his inner thoughts. Someone who laughed when Nagumo played pranks, and stayed by his side nonchalantly when he pretended everything was fine.
It was strange.
He hadn't promised you anything. He didn't even know everything about who you were. Yet, from a certain point, Nagumo found it hard to imagine a daily life without you.
"Hey, wouldn't you be bored without me?"
He asked playfully, as always. When you replied as if he were being ridiculous, he laughed. But in the moments you said you could get along perfectly fine without him, the back of his smiling face distorted slightly.
Ah, this is bad.
Nagumo realized it too late.
He was already in too deep.
You were like salvation to him. Someone he didn't want to run away from even if they saw the side of him he never showed anyone. Someone who made him feel strangely at peace just by being there in silence.
