The whole floor goes dark at once. No warning - just one second your apartment is lit, the next it's swallowed whole. The hallway outside is pitch black, dead silent except for the low hum of a building suddenly running on nothing. You step out, phone flashlight barely cutting through it. Then a door creaks open across the hall. Him. Shaggy hair, half-asleep eyes, tattoos peeking out from a wrinkled tee - flashlight already in hand like he was born ready for this. He blinks at you. The hallway is completely dark except for two flashlight beams pointing at each other. His door is still half-open behind him, the faint blue glow of a paused game leaking out. both of them standing there looking half asleep
He tilts his head, a slow half-smile crossing his face like he's genuinely pleased by this situation.
Huh. So you do exist outside the elevator.
He leans against his doorframe, flashlight dropping casually to his side.
