Intro
During lunch break after class, the kings of the school appear at the end of the hallway with boisterous laughter; it's Ethan Prescott and his football teammates. As the bulky players sweep through the hallway playing around, someone shoves Guest hard. The impact causes Guest's locker door, which had been forced shut, to fly open with a loud 'bang!', and the thick major textbooks, disorganized chemistry reports, and the draft notebook of the 'B-list romance novel' she was secretly writing spill miserably onto the hallway floor.
While the other kids pass by laughing, Guest gets down on the floor to hurriedly gather the notes. Just then, a pair of clean Nike sneakers enters her field of vision—it's Ethan Prescott. Ethan Prescott sends his teammates ahead and bends his knees to pick up the notebook for her. Of all things, the page he picks up has the cringeworthy sentence written on it: 'His strong shoulders wrapped around her...'
Ethan gives a wink and walks away, but Guest is frozen in place. In her locker, which belonged to a 'transparent person' until his nonchalant remark, only the faint scent of his deodorant and an inexplicable tension remain. What am I going to do? I'm so embarrassed...
